• Translation & InterpretationKICC Interpreter dispatch service

A volunteer interpreting service (free of charge) is available for non-Japanese speakers living in Kobe who need assistance when making registrations or applications, or seeking consultation at their ward office etc.

  • Available languages
    English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Filipino (Tagalog), Indonesian, Thai, Nepali
  • Place
    Ward offices,Public institutions in Kobe City
  • Time
    Monday to Friday (except holidays including days between 29th Dec. and 3rd Jan).
    The service is available for up to 2 hours from 9:00 to 17:00
  • How to apply
    Apply for the service by filling in the forms and bringing them, sending by e-mail or faxing them to Kobe International Community Center

    *Apply at least 7 business days before the day you need an interpreter.
    *There might be some cases where an interpreter cannot be dispatched due to interpreter availability or the contents of the interpreting required.

Caution

  • 1. Interpreters cannot be provided for the following:
    Consultations in hospital, participation in any events, sightseeing, conferences for building residents, exams or learning support, judicial interpretation in court etc. Please contact us if you are not sure whether you can use the service.
  • 2. You cannot request translation.
  • 3. You cannot request an interpreter by name.
  • 4. Our volunteer interpreters are not specialists. Neither the volunteer interpreter nor the KICC can accept responsibility for any problems or issues which may arise through use of the service.
