SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Support for International Students


The following support activities are offered for international students studying at a university or junior college in Kobe.



Scholarships


Application Period:
March `April

Applicant Requirements:
The applicant must be a third year student or higher at a university located in the City of Kobe, and have a student visa. Students from the following countries cannot apply: Ireland, the United States of America, Italy, Australia, Austria, the Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Finland, France, Belgium, Portugal, Luxembourg, and England. This scholarship cannot be combined with another organizationfs scholarship.

How to Apply:
Fill out the application form found in the student affairs division of area universities (apply through the university). The selection process will be based on the application and interview.


Housing Assistance


Housing for international students is available on Rokko Island (Family Housing) in Higashi Nada-ward and Gakuentoshi (Single and Married Couple Housing) in Nishi-ward.

International students attending a university, college, or junior college in Kobe, and who possess the proper visa status as International Student are allowed to apply.

Fill out the application form found in the student affairs division of area universities and junior colleges (apply through the university or junior college). The selection process will be based on the application and interview.



Assistance with Security Deposit


In the case where an international student rents/leases private housing, the KIC offers assistance in the form of a no-interest loan to cover part of the security deposit. Such housing can also be located outside the City of Kobe.

Only international students attending a university, college, or junior college in Kobe, and who possess the proper visa status as International Student are allowed to apply.

Happy Memory Pass KOBE

The Happy Memory Pass KOBE is a passport that offers free admission to 40 facilities and attractions located in Kobe. The pass is for international students and their immediate family.(Immediate family includes the international studentfs spouse and children. Parents, brothers and/or sisters, relatives, and host families cannot use the pass.)


Application Period:
April and October

Applicant Requirements:
Only international students attending a university, college, or junior college in Kobe, and who possess the proper visa status as International Student are allowed to apply.
